Online registrations have now closed.
The COVID-19 Delta variant requires us to step back and reassess the health and safety protocols for our Munich American High School reunion.
As you may know, we conducted a survey of all classmates registered on the reunion website. The results were remarkably consistent.
A. Of the 63 respondents (representing 84 participants), 97% were fully vaccinated
B. With respect to a mandatory vaccine policy: one indicated s/he would cancel if there was such a policy and one would cancel depending on whether there was a refund.
C. 33% would cancel if there was no mandatory vaccine policy or depending on whether there was a refund.
D. Regarding masks, 21% indicated they would cancel if there was a mandatory mask policy or depending on a refund.
E. 19% said they would cancel if there was no mandatory mask policy, or depending on a refund.
We want to communicate with you about these questions as early and clearly as possible. While there remains a good deal of uncertainty, the health and safety of our classmates remain our top priorities. As new information surfaces, the reunion organizers will be guided by science, recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, and state and local regulations.
Below are the current health and safety plans for our reunion:
• The reunion, scheduled for October 14-17, 2021, in Washington, DC, will take place. Only those who are fully vaccinated (two weeks after the second dose in a two-dose series of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines; or two weeks after a single-dose of Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine) will be admitted to the reunion. Please be prepared to show documentation at the reunion registration.
• At present, we anticipate requiring all participants to wear a mask, and will monitor CDC guidance for recommended changes, as well as the Commonwealth of Virginia and Arlington County for any updated requirements as we approach the reunion dates.
• We will offer registration refunds for any requests received by September 30, contingent on fulfilling our existing financial obligations. That means that those who wish to cancel their reservations will receive their refunds after the reunion and after we have met our financial obligations. We will make every effort to refund each cancelled registration. We anticipate that we will be able to refund most, if not all, of the registration fee because the bulk of our costs are based on fixed per-person charges.
• Hotel room reservations can be cancelled up to 24 hours before check-in.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make the MAHS reunion safe and enjoyable for all.
